Learn to Sail
Operating over the summer months and governed by the tides, the Club has since 1999 operated learn-to-sail sessions from the main front beach.
The main aims of these sessions is for children to learn sailing skills in a safe and lightly controlled manner. The main aims are to enhance swimming skills, learn to respect the sea, tides and wind and the safe handling of a sailing Dinghy.
The Club owns and maintains 9 optimists, one of which is an on-shore trainer for new sailors, 6 sunbursts suitable for adults and children and 3 Vikings (mini lasers) for older persons’ fun and our capsize trainers.. We also have 3 Rigid Inflatable Boats (ribs) for Patrol and Rescue work.
All our Club Tutors are sailors for tuition and manning the rescue boats.
